Female radiography student using equipment on patient

CCBC’s Radiography program gave Hannah the hands-on experience, industry access and knowledge she needed to launch her career.

When thinking about what she wanted her career to look like, Bel Air native Hannah Loukota found inspiration from her mother, who works in the allied health field. “I knew I wanted to help people,” she says, “but maybe not as directly as a doctor or a nurse.”

After researching, Hannah felt confident CCBC’s Radiography program was right for her.

“I found CCBC when I was looking up allied health programs,” she recalls. “I saw Radiography and it was the most interesting program to me.”

In August 2023, Hannah started at CCBC. Though it was difficult to balance schoolwork with an outside job, she remained committed, and her hard work paid off when she passed the registry exam this past June.

“CCBC’s known for their high pass rates,” says Hannah. “The program really did prepare me well.”

A program highlight for Hannah was CCBC’s lab facilities, specifically the equipment she worked with.

One of my favorite things was that we had two X-ray tubes. Having two very different machines to practice with throughout lab makes you ready for whatever work has to throw at you.

Hannah and her classmates also visited UMD, MedStar hospitals, Patient First, Advanced Radiology, Mercy and more.

“We went everywhere!” Hannah says. “We got to see so much workflow. We got our hands on so many different kinds of machines that all have their own little special things that we have to learn.”

Clinical site visits also helped Hannah jump-start her career, as she landed jobs at two of the sites she’d visited. Many classmates found similar success through their visits.

Most of us had jobs lined up before we even graduated.

Another highlight for Hannah was the graduation pinning ceremony, where she and her classmates received pins from their clinical coordinator before friends and family. As a class government member, Hannah helped organize decorations like a photo booth and a balloon arch in school colors — a perfect celebration of her and her classmates’ hard work, and their bright futures.
