Dr. Sagar Chapagain is an Internal Medicine Resident Physician at Johns Hopkins University/Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he is dedicated to delivering patient-centered care and advocating for systemic change to promote equitable, high-quality healthcare.
Dr. Chapagain earned his MD from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his dedication to compassionate patient care. Before medical school, he was a Doctoral Diversity Program Scholar at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, at the Wilmer Eye Institute.
Sagar’s academic journey began at CCBC where he graduated with the highest academic honors, obtaining his Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degrees. He served as President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was recognized as the President’s Distinguished Graduate, CCBC’s most prestigious student honor. After CCBC, Sagar attended Cornell University as a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar, where he majored in Biological Sciences and Health Policy. His leadership and academic excellence earned him the Cornell Class of 2017 Award.
Dr. Chapagain is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the George Washington Fields Award for Professional Development, NIDA Outstanding Summer Research Poster Award, and Cornell CALS Alumni Association Academic Enrichment Award. He has been been published in national and regional outlets, including USA Today and The Baltimore Sun on his insights on health policy, healthcare disparities, and higher education policy.
