Ashley Minner: Stories of Baltimore

Friday, April 16, 11:15 AM-12:10 PM | Online

Ashley Minner (Lumbee): Stories of East Baltimore's "Reservation". Following WWII, thousands of Lumbee Indians moved from their tribal homeland in North Carolina to the Baltimore neighborhoods of Upper Fells Point and Washington Hill.

Today, only two active American Indian community-owned sites remain. Community-based visual artist, UMBC professor, and folklorist Ashley Minner (Lumbee) will discuss her process of mapping and reconstructing East Baltimore’s “reservation.”
