Your future is worth it. CCBC is here for you!

CCBC is here to support you with our tuition-free initiative, expanded selection of online courses, help navigating life issues, and on-campus safety protocols including:

Masks and face coverings

Face coverings (masks) are optional at all college locations, except in required patient care settings.

Air exchanges and air cleaning

Most virus transmission occurs via airborne particles and not from droplets or contact. Therefore, being outside or exchanging the air frequently in indoor spaces mitigates airborne transmission.

CCBC has replaced all HVAC system air filters with the recommended MERV-13 filters and installed air cleaners that kill the coronavirus within all classrooms.

Vaccinations

The single best defense against all variants of COVID-19 is vaccination and appropriately timed boosters. Vaccinations are strongly encouraged for all members of the college community.

CCBC will host vaccine clinics during the fall semester. Those clinics will begin to focus on many “shots of prevention” including flu shots, COVID vaccines and boosters, shingles vaccines, and tetanus.

Student Vaccine Mandates

While CCBC has not issued a coronavirus vaccine mandate for all students, there is a vaccine mandate for the following specific groups of students.

All credit health professions students.

These students’ education includes clinical experience or patient care in a lab. Students must provide evidence to their program director that they are fully vaccinated[1]. (A vaccine is encouraged, but not required, for students in the Mortuary Science program in the School of Health Professions.)

All continuing education allied health students.

These students’ education includes clinical experience or patient care in a lab. Students must provide evidence to their program director that they are fully vaccinated[1]. (A vaccine is encouraged, but not required, for students in the Child Care Provider program, Medical Front Office program, Medical Billing program, and Medical Coding program in the School of Continuing Education.)

CCBC will consider any requests for an exemption to this vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons on a case-by-case basis. Students with an approved exemption will be required to test at least weekly. If a student wishes to request an exemption, they should provide that information to the appropriate supervising Dean at least 10 calendar days prior to the event. The supervising Dean will provide the appropriate exemption request form to the student.

Assumption of risk

CCBC holds as paramount the health, safety, and welfare of every member of our community. We are taking steps to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections at CCBC. This means actively monitoring COVID-19 developments, adhering to national, state, and local health guidelines and requirements, and implementing those measures CCBC deems safe and appropriate.

Please do not come to class or work at CCBC if you are sick. We ask that you isolate and quarantine when required. In keeping with the spirit of CCBC, every member of our community must do their part, not just for themselves, but for the safety of others.

Specific details on what CCBC is doing to address COVID-19 concerns are available on this webpage. These details may change as circumstances dictate. As you know, none of us can guarantee how COVID-19 or its variants will evolve and impact us here at CCBC, and none of us, including CCBC, can guarantee a COVID-19-free environment. This is simply not feasible.

Given this transparency, students and employees should understand that if you visit, attend or work on any CCBC campus, there is a risk you may contract COVID-19. We are certainly taking all recommended steps to mitigate this risk, but we can in no way guarantee this will not happen. It would be disingenuous to suggest otherwise. By coming onto campus, you understand that this is possible.

We are living in unique and uncertain times. None of us can know what the future holds, but CCBC is working to provide its full range of credit and continuing education offerings as well as its regular spectrum of student services.

[1] Fully vaccinated is defined 14 days after receiving both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, i. e., Pfizer or Moderna or the single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, i.e., Johnson & Johnson.
