Five CCBC students named to 2015 All-Maryland Community College Academic Team

Congratulations to the five students named to the 2015 All-Maryland Academic Team.

First Team are Sagar Chapagain of Towson, Md. (CCBC Essex), Michele Buddemeyer of Nottingham, Md. (CCBC Essex) and Danielle Freeman of Baltimore City, Md. (CCBC Catonsville). Named to the Second Team are Katherine Kissel of Dundalk, Md. (CCBC Dundalk) and Aysha Khan of Catonsville, Md. (CCBC Catonsville). All of these students are also members of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for community college students.

Sagar Chapagain was also chosen as a Coca-Cola All-State Academic Team Silver Scholar. He will receive $1,250 as well as recognition in a special April issue of USA Today.

These five students will be honored at the All-Maryland Community College Academic Team Recognition Dinner in early May along with community college students from across the state. All students were nominated by their college president and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society advisors to the prestigious All-USA Academic Team. Nominees are required to have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale), a minimum of 30 semester college-level credits, plans to transfer to a four-year college or university in the fall, as well as demonstrated involvement in college activities.
