Salute to Veterans

CCBC recognizes and honors the services of our veterans, especially our student veterans throughout the year.

This November, we have, in turn, been recognized nationally for the programs and services that we are providing our student veterans.

  • Victory Media’s designation of CCBC as a Military Friendly® school for 2016, and
  • CCBC’s award of The Kohlberg Prize To Community Colleges For Excellence In Veterans Education, an $80,000 grant awarded by The Kisco Foundation to expand and enhance its exemplary educational programs and support services for veterans

Nearly 750 military-affiliated students currently utilize veterans' educational benefits and rely upon dedicated CCBC certifying officials who provide one-on-one assistance and counseling. In addition, CCBC shows continued commitment to strengthening its veteran services as outlined in the Maryland Campus Compact for Student Veterans and the White House's Principles of Excellence for military education with the addition of the Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) initiative, as well as by hiring the new Director of Veteran Services to provide leadership for an integrated veteran services model.

In addition to designated Veterans Lounges on each of the main campuses , the college is also initiating a Veterans Ambassador program where students will be recruited to connect veteran students to CCBC services and resources. A Veteran Mentorship program is also in the works which will help veteran students combine their military experience with classroom knowledge and match them with successful and experienced mentors from top Fortune 500 companies.
