Ukraine delegation hosted by World Trade Center Institute to visit FABLAB Baltimore at CCBC Catonsville on March 21
Mar 09, 2016FABLAB Baltimore at CCBC Catonsville will host a delegation from the Ukraine on Monday, March 21, from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m. The delegation is exploring innovative economic development options.
The World Trade Center Institute will be hosting a delegation of 10 national government, regional/local and civil society (NGO) representatives from the Ukraine during March. The nine men and one woman group are mid to senior level officials (mainly in their 30s) responsible for eGovernance and/or economic growth in their country. The group will be accompanied by interpreters, two representatives from USAID and Leslie Rankin, WTCI Assistant Manager, Professional Exchanges and Marketing.
A half-day visit to the FABLAB Baltimore in the School of Applied and Information Technology at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville. FABLAB Baltimore is a non-profit digital fabrication lab, community workspace, and educational center that serves as a resource for students, designers, artists, inventors, entrepreneurs, and other professionals, as well as businesses and institutions in the Mid-Atlantic region. It is a regional model of innovative economic development, and has been replicated in many developing countries as an effective mechanism for rapidly promoting technology commercialization.
The delegation will be given a workshop on the laser and vinyl cutters and the 3-D printer. A Q&A session will follow on the applications of this innovative technology for economic development/growth. The visit will include a “hands-on” session using the equipment. CCBC hosts for this event will be Doug Kendzierski, Chairman, Applied Technology, Ken Burch, Project Specialist, and Hayley Evans, FABLAB Baltimore Manager.
