Throughout a remarkable and unprecedented year, CCBC continued to provide instructional, training and enrichment opportunities on campus and in virtual environments.Baltimore County College Promise Scholarships expands eligibility
Baltimore County College Promise scholarships cover all degree and certificate programs as well as select workforce training certification programs. The scholarship is calculated as a “last dollar in” award, meaning that it is applied after all other financial awards and state aid have been utilized.
NSF awards CCBC $998,375 grant to support STEM
MASS provides educational support, internship experience opportunities, and career counseling to low-income, academically talented students at CCBC through scholarships and student support services and promotes full-time enrollment and degree achievement in science and mathematics-intensive STEM disciplines.
CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis receives ACCT Regional Award
CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis is the recipient of a 2019 Regional Chief Executive Officer Award from the Association of Community College Trustees.ACCT’s Regional Awards recognize the tremendous contributions made by community colleges and their leaders to meet the needs of their communities.
Winner for ACCT’s Northeast Region, President Kurtinitis’ community college career exceeds 50 years. Her work within community colleges has been recognized both locally and nationally. She currently serves as past-chair of the American Association of Community Colleges board of trustees and was recently presented with an Icon Award and Most Admired CEO Award by the Maryland Daily Record.
CCBC awarded $1M for Center for Business Innovation expansion
The Phillip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation recently awarded CCBC a $1,077,395 grant to expand its Center for Business Innovation. The goal is to increase the center’s success in sustaining and building a strong network of support for CCBC students and alumni aspiring to become small business owners.The grant provides instructional support to develop new courses and workshops to strengthen the business acumen for those interested in starting a new business as well as administrative support to follow participants and track their successes.
The funding also increases the amount of start-up capital available to those competing in the annual Business Plan Competition. A total of $62,500 is available to support the competition, with the first-place winner receiving $20,000 to support their business endeavor.
