Philosophy

Bill Rice has been a CCBC faculty member for 34 years. He teaches Introduction to Philosophy (PHIL 101), Critical Thinking (PHIL 103), and Ethics (PHIL 240). Professor Rice has also taught Math, Physics, Electronics, Strength of Materials, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and other technical subjects. He has taught for CCBC in many area businesses and institutions, including the Baltimore County Police Academy, the Transportation Police Academy, Copflex Corporation, Bethlehem Steel, Ward Machinery, the EMR Corporation, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Prior to coming to CCBC, Professor Rice worked as an aerospace engineer and also as an industrial technician and an elementary school teacher. He considers teaching to be the most important of occupations. He lives in Anne Arundel County with his son, Adam, and his dog, Sophie. In his free time he enjoys hiking, biking, and tinkering with gadgets and gizmos.
