Introduction to Game Design

Students gain a general introduction to what goes into the design and development of both video and analog games, with a particular focus on the use of games outside of consumer entertainment. By completing this course, you can take the first steps into understanding game design, and how it can be applied in your field.

Topics to be covered include: what makes a game, essentials of design, game design: solo and in teams, serious games and gamification.

Intermediate Game Design

Students learn the basics of video game design process, learn about the main video game genres, and use a game development application to begin making games.

Topics to be covered include: A brief history of video game development, player motivation, platforms, genres and story elements, the production process.
