Credit by Industry Certification or Apprenticeship

Earn college credit for the skills and knowledge you've gained through industry certifications, apprenticeships and licenses.

Many of these programs are registered with the government and recognized within their industry or field. Our faculty can evaluate these certifications and licenses to determine which CCBC courses they are equivalent to and how many college credits you should receive.

This type of prior learning assessment is a great fit for students who have certifications or have completed apprenticeships in a variety of fields.

Plus, if you're currently enrolled in a CCBC Continuing Education Workforce Certificate program, you can easily earn college credits for your work and apply them to a related degree program! Consult your program instructor or priorlearning@ccbcmd.edu for more details.

If you're interested in earning CCBC credit for your industry certification, here is the general process:

• Apply to CCBC and select a program of study. If you have since changed your program of study, be sure to update your student record. 
• Submit your official college transcripts to the registrar's office.
• Contact the Office of Prior Learning Assessment to initiate the process. We'll review your program of study and connect you with a faculty member who can evaluate and process your request.
