Friday, March 14, 2008 vs Burlington (DH) W 4-0, 7-6 (3-5)
|
Amy Guyton started right where she left off last year with a two hit shutout,recording w10 K's and 0 walks in a 4-0 shutout over Burlington, Great defense and RBI's by Jess Richards, Stacey Rouse, Sloan Van Meter and Desarie Sullivan. In the second game, freshman Michelle Asbury started and had some problems with her location, giving up four runs on seven hits. She was relieved by Lauren Hart, who also had control problems, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk. Amy Guyton came in and shut the door, giving the Lady Cardinals a chance to catch up and win the game 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh. The Lady Cardinals committed one error in 14 innings. Desirae Sullivan was a one-woman wrecking crew, going four-for-four,collecting a single, double and two home runs with five RBI. Meghan Kovacs had two hits with Lela Wedell and Holly Ross knocking in RBI'S.

Saturday, March 15, 2008 vs Frederick (DH) W 4-0, 5-0 (5-5)
|
Amy Guyton won her third game in two days with a 4-0 shutout over Frederick. Guyton registered her second shutout with four hits, no walks and three K's. A great defensive play by Desirae Sullivan in foul territory over her back with runners on second and third with two outs in a 0 to 0 game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sullivan injured her foot on the play and was out for the rmainder of the game. The Lady Cardinals came back in the top of the 7th and scored four runs on timely hitting from Holly Ross, Kelly Burke, Kara Taylor and Meghan Kovacs. Amy Guyton had two hits in the win. What a difference a day makes. In game two, Lauren Hart started and showed why her ERA of last year was ranked 15th in the nation. Hart threw a complete game, two-hit shutout with only one walk. Again, the Lady Cardinals committed one error in 14 innings. Jess Richards has lead the defense with outstanding plays at first.. Kara Taylor has been on fire at the plate, leading the way with three hits. Michelle Asbury and Amy Guyton both had two hits each along with two doubles by Sloane Van Meter. Brittany Frankenfeld had a hit with two RBI.

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 vs Onondaga (NY)(DH) W 2-1, 3-1 (7-5)
|
Freshman Michelle Asbury pitched a good game for six innings, but received no offensive help. Amy Guyton came on in relief and shut down Onondago for two innings and picked up the 2-1 win. Michelle Asbury and Stacey Rouse both had two hits and a RBI each. Saige Steinmetz scored both runs and had two stolen bases. In the second game, Lauren Hart pitched a complete game, getting her third win of the season in a 3-1 win over the Lazers. Hart gave up only four hits, while striking out seven. Stacey Rouse stayed hot at the plate, going 2 for 2 with a run scored and a RBI. Jess Richards drilled a double to the right center gap, knocking in two. Desarie Sullivan, Steinmetz and Kara Taylor all had singles. In another outstanding defensive performance, the Lady Cardinals committed one error in 15 innings.

Saturday, March 22, 2008 vs Cecil (DH) W 10-2, W 8-1 8 (9-5)
|
Meghan Kovacs went three for four with a home run and 4 RBI to lead CCBC Catonsville to a 10-2 five inning decision over Cecil Community College. Lauren Hart picked up her fourth win of the season. Desirae Sullivan went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Stacey Rouse and Jess Richards each had two hits. Saige Steinmetz turned in a stellar performance in centefield. In game two, Michelle Asbury started and got her first college win, pitching five innings in an 8-1 win before Amy Guyton, (NJCAA Pitcher of the Week) came in on relief, shutting the door for the last two innings and getting the save. Michelle Asbury and Saige Steinmetz led the way offensively, getting three hits each. Desirae Sullivan and Stacey Rouse each were two for four with a double. Kelly Burke had a hit with an RBI. Another errorless game.

Tuesday, March 25, 2008 vs US Naval Academy Club W 13-0 (10-5)

Amy Guyton's one-hit shutout led CCBC Catonsville to a 13-0 win in Annapoils over the US Naval Academy Club team. Guyton was near perfect in seven innings, facing 22 batters of the required 21 to throw a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts for her fifth win of the season. Desirae Sullivan lead the way at the plate, going two for three with four RBI and her third home run of the season. Sloane Van Meter was two for four with three RBI.

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 vs Chesapeake W 4-3, W 9-1 (12-5)

Amy Guyton replaced starting pitcher Lauren Hart in the first and led CCBC Catonsville to a 4-3 win over Chesapeake. Guyton notched her sixth win of the season with 11 strikeouts and no walks after Hart had relinquished three runs in the first. The bats were cold and scoring runs was difficult. Michelle Asbury and Sloane Van Meter each led the way with two hits. Saige Stienmetz, Jess Richards and Stacey Rouse all had singles. In the nightcap, Michele Asbury allowed one earned run to lead the Cardinals to a 9-1 five-inning win. Along the way, Asbury struck out five to pick up her second win. Sloane Van Meter led the offense, going two for two with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI. Desirae Sullivan was two for three with three RBI. Kara Taylor added a triple.

Friday, March 28, 2008 vs Sussex(NJ) (DH) W 8-0, W 12-4 (14-5)

Amy Guyton's two-hit, eight strikeout shutout performance led CCBC Catonsville to a 8-0 win over visiting Sussex County (NJ). Guyton's five inning effort gave the right-hander her seventh win of the season. Guyton also had a double with two RBI. Desirae Sullivan had a double with two RBI. Meghan Kovacs was two for three with two RBI and blasted her second home run of the season. Sloane Van Meter was two for two. In the second game, the Lady Cardinals again used five innings to swamp Sussex 12-4. Lauren Hart started, Michele Asbury got the win and Amy Guyton collected the save. Lela Wedell, Jess Richards, Brittany Frankenfeld and Saige Steinmetz each had two hits. Desirea Sullivan was two for three with a double and her fourth home run of the season.

Saturday, March 29, 2008 vs Montgomery-Rockville (DH) W 18-4, W 15-0 (16-5)
|
Lauren Hart's three-hit eight strikeout performance paced CCBC Catonsville to a 17-4 win over Montgomery-Rockville in the first game of a doubleheader. It was Hart's fifth win of the season. Lela Wedell and Kara Taylor each had 3 hits. Desirae Sullivan was two for three with five RBI and her fifth home run. Jess Richards, in a back to back shot, hit her first collegegiate home run. Kelly Burke, Lauren Hart, Meghan Kovacs and Saige Steinmetz each had 2 hits. Michelle Asbury's first complete game no-hitter led CCBC Catonsville to a 15-0 whitewash in the second game of a doubleheader against Montgomery-Rockville. The win gave her a 4-1 record. Desirae Sullivan, hitting over .600, went three for four with a grand slam, her sixth home run of the year and eight RBI, giving her 13 RBI for the double header. Stacey Rouse had three hits with Jess Richards, Meghan Kovacs and Saige Steinmetz each with two hits. Brittany Frankenfeld, Meghan Kovacs and Saige Steinmetz each turned in outstanding defensive performances .

Wednesday, April 2, 2008 vs CCBC Dundalk (DH) W 5-2, W 10-3 (18-5)
|
Amy Guyton's 12-strikeout, no walk performance led CCBC Catonsville to a 5-2 win over cross town rival CCBC Dundalk in the first game of a doubleheader. Sloane Van Meter led the way offensively with a triple and a three-run homer, her first of the year. Kara Taylor was three-for-three, while Saige Steinmetz remained hot with two hits. Amy Guyton and Meghan Kovacs each had RBI hits.In the second game, Michelle Asbury (NJCAA Pitcher of the Week), started and pitched well for 2 1/3 innings, but the defense let her down for the first time this year, giving up three unearned run in a 10-3 win. Lauren Hart came on in relief and got the win ( 6W -1L), pitching 4 2/3 innings, while striking out four. The Lady Cardinals got back into the swing of things, banging out 14 hits and 10 runs. Desirae Sullivan was three-for-four with a double and her seventh home run of the season. Van Meter was three-for-four, while Lauren Hart and Saige Steinmetz each had two hits. Kara Taylor was one-for-two with a RBI.

Friday, April 11, 2008 vs Hagerstown (DH) W 3-2, L 11-3 (19-6)
|
Desirae Sullivan's eighth home run of the year and three RBI led CCBC Catonsville to a 3-2 win in a match-up of the two best softball teams in the Maryland JuCO. Thr RBI gave Sullivan a league leading 39 for the year. Amy Guyton performed admirably on the mound, while offensively, Stacey Rouse and Sloane Van Meter kicked in with a single and double, respectively. Defensively, Stacy Rouse made the play of the game with a diving catch in right-field to start the seventh. Saige Steimetz also contributed several outstanding catches. In the nightcap, Lauren Hart started the game and pitched great for three innings, but defensive lapses led to an 11-3 loss. The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning and were cruising along with the game well in hand until the top of the 4th when the defense faltered and gave Hagerstown eight unearned runs. Offensively, Kara Taylor collected a two RBI hit with two outs with the bases loaded in the first inning. Saige Stienmetz stayed hot going three-for-four and adding to her Region XX leading 22 for 22 stolen bases.

Sunday, April 13, 2008 vs Mercer (DH) L 2-0, L 9-1 (19-8)

Amy Guyton pitched a complete game three-hitter, but suffered a 2-0 loss to host Mercer County Community College. Catonsville out hit Mercer, nine to three, and left 13 runners on base to lose in the last inning. Stacey Rouse, Saige Steinmetz, Sloane Van Meter and Megan Kovacs all had two hits. In the second game, Michelle Asbury started and pitched four innings, giving up three runs. Lauren Hart came in and gave up six runs in a 9-1 loss. Hitting, base running and defense were lacking in this six inning game. Jess Richards had two hits and the only RBI.

Saturday, April 19, 2008 vs Harford (DH) W 8-1, W 9-1 (21-8)

Amy Guyton's four-hit, 10 strikeout, complete game performance led CCBC Catonsville to an 8-1 win over Harford Community College in the first game of a doubleheader. It was Guyton's tenth win of the season. Saige Steinmetz, who continues to lead the team in hitting, belted two singles and stole her 24th and 25th base on the year. Sloane Van Meter and Desarie Sullivan each had two hits with two RBI. Meghan Kovacs ripped a bases loaded triple. In the second game, Michelle Asbury, coming off a rib injury, pitched six innings to record her fifth win of the season. Meghan Kovacs led the offense with a triple, (her second of the day) and her third home run of the season. Holley Ross, Stacey Rouse, Sloane Van Meter and Lela Wedell each had two hits.

Saturday, April 26, 2008 vs Potomac State (DH) W 3-2, W 11-5 (23-8)

Amy Guyton picked up her 11th win of the season with a six hit, five strikeout, complete game performance in a 3-2 win over Potomac State in the first game of a double header. The Lady Cardinals collected two runs on wild pitches in the first. Saige Steinmetz stayed hot, going one-for-one and and walk and was hit by pitch which equaled three for three stolen bases. Desarie Sullivan, Kara Taylor and Sloane Van Meter each got a hit. In the second game, Lauren Hart, nursing an injured leg, started and gave up three runs with two outs. Michelle Asbury came on in relief and pitched well, giving up two runs on six hits and four k's. Offensively, Desarie Sullivan led the way with her ninth homerun of the season and her 50th RBI. Sloane Van Meter had three hits, Meghan Kovacs, Saige Steinmetz and Stacey Rouse each had 2 hits. Kara Taylor and Holley Ross had two RBI singles. Jessica Richards and Brittany Frankenfeld each had a hit.

Sunday, April 27, 2008 vs York College Club W 18-1 (24-8)
|
Seven sophomore's playing in their last career home game collected 14 hits and 18 RBI in five innings to lead CCBC Catonsville to an 18-1 win over York College Club. Amy Guyton, Lauren Hart, Stacey Rouse, Saige Steinmetz, Lela Wedell, Kara Taylor and Kelly Burke closed out their regular season careers in superb fashion. Amy Guyton got her 12th win of the year and set a new single season strikeout record with 105 K's. (the old record was 102 K's in 2005 by Beth Slater), Guyton pitched five innings with eight K's and no walks. New records were established as Saige Steinmetz stole her 30th and 31st stolen base with out getting caught. Steinmetz also had two hits, three runs scored and two RBI. In addition, Stacey Rouse went three for-four with a single, triple and her first career home run to deep center field. Amy Guyton was three-for-four with two doubles. Kelly Burke had a triple. Kara Taylor had two hits with two RBI and Lela Wedell was two-for-three with two RBI.
