NJCAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week (April 9, 2008)

JESSICA BAUBLITZ

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- CCBC Catonsville (Md.) midfielder Jessica Baublitz has been named NJCAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, for contests ending April6.This is the first installment of the weekly award.Baublitz, a 5'2" midfielder from Baltimore, Md., scored 29 goals and recorded 8 assists in Catonsville wins over Loyola College(17-5), Harford (22-8) and Howard (23-2). Baublitz was named pre-season NJCAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year by Lacrosse Magazine.

Friday, March 7, 2008 vs U of Marland Club (W 11-3) 1-0

A strong defensive performance propelled CCBC Catonsville to an 11-3 opening day win over host University of Maryland Club. 2008 NJCAA Player of the Year Jessica Baublitz opened the season with six goals and two assists. Courtney Berger netted two goals and two assists and Emilie Melka chipped in with two goals and an assist. Brooke Evans and Kyle Evans each tallied a goal and an assist, while Danielle Callahan dished out an assist. Goaltender Kelly Veins turned back nine Terrapins shots.

Thursday, March 13, 2008 vs LoyolaClub (W 17-1) 2-0

CCBC Catonsville notched a decisive 19-5 win over Loyola College club in its 2008 home opener. The Lady Cardinals utilized a patient offense and solid defense to control both sides of the field. Pre-season NJCAA Player of the Year Jessica Baublitz registered eight goals and two assists. In addition, Courtney Berger tallied four goals and two assists, Emilie Melka notched two goals and three assists and Kyle Evans posted two goals and two assists. Danielle Callahan, Brooke Evans and Marina Henry each added a goal. Callahan also picked up two assists. In the net, Kelly Veins recorded 11 saves. Outstanding performances in the midfield were posted by Shaneka and Shameka Gordon, Kristin Sortman and Jenna Kilroy.
