|
In a long-awaited season opener, the CCBC Catonsville women’s lacrosse team rebounded from a deficit to defeat the University of Maryland Club team 13 – 7. The Lady Cardinals shut down Maryland Club in the second half with a tenacious defense and balanced scoring. Kyle Evans, Ashley Edwards and Kara Cashen each tallied three goals. Freshman Emily Reese added two goals, while sophomores Danielle Callahan and Janet Snell each notched one goal. All-American sophomore goalie Kelly Viens had 10 saves.

Thursday, March 19, 2009 vs Brookdale

CCBC Catonsville's balanced scoring attack led to a 26-2 win over visiting Brookdale Community College. Thirteen players scored in the win. Freshmen Emily Reese and Ashley Edwards tallied four goals and a combined nine assists. Sophomore Kyle Evans scored three goals and four assists. Danielle Callahan, Asia Woodside, Laura Grammer, Katherine Witowski and Deidre Hunt had two goals, while Kristen Sortman, Lacy Bevilacqua, Ashley Smith, Kara Cashen, Janet Snell each added one goal. Goalies Kelly Viensand Nikki Morris combined for six saves.

Saturday, March 21, 2009 vs Nihon University (Tokyo, Japan)

Freshman Emily Reese's four goals and five assists led CCBC Catonsville to a 23-4 win over visiting Nihon University of Tokyo, Japan. Twelve Lady Cardinals jumped into the scoring fray. Besides Reese, sophomore Kyle Evans netted four goals and three assists. Kara Cashen had three goals and three assists. Kristen Sortman, Ashley Edwards and Laura Grammer had two goals while Katherine Witowski, Lacy Bevilacqua, Ashley Smith, Caitlin Burns, Janet Snell and Gretchen Ordakowski each added one goal. Goalie Nikki Morris had eight saves.
