Maryland Basic Boating Certification Course
Total Cost: $29 (Tuition: $9 Fees: $20)

Classroom instruction in basic boating gives you the necessary tools to meet the certification requirements of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police. Discuss types of vessels, navigational aids, marine weather, regulations, emergency situations, personal watercraft, and maneuvering.

S.C.U.B.A. Diving Certification Prep Course
Total Cost: $189 (Tuition: $79 Fees: $110)

This non-credit diving certification course offers students an opportunity to experience the exciting sport of SCUBA diving. Experienced professional diving instructors will explain the physics, physiology, and procedures associated with modern-day diving using classroom lecture and pool exercises. Equipment to be furnished by the student: Mask, snorkel, fins, boots and gloves. All other equipment will be provided by the instructional staff.

Learn to Sail Certification Course
Total Cost: $179 (Tuition: $60 Fees: $119)

Learn the skill of sailing small centerboard sailboats and basic boating. You'll be taught to steer and trim, tack and jibe, rig and de-rig, dock, moor, capsize recovery, and rules of the road. Topics to be covered include basic safe-boating practices, forces that propel a sailboat, obtaining maximum speed, and sailboat nomenclature. After successful completion of this course you will be eligible for U.S. Sail certification. The program is run at Rocky Point Park on Hawk Cove and offers a sailing tour around the surrounding area.

Basic Kayak Class
Total Cost: $79 (Tuition: $0 Fees: $79)

Our Basic Kayak Class is a one-day adult program focusing on the fundamentals of safely and efficiently aneuvering modern-day kayaks. Skilled, certified instructors cover various paddling strokes, self-rescue techniques, group rescue techniques, the proper use of your equipment and familiarity with different types of kayaks. The program is run at Rocky Point Park on Hawk Cove and offers a paddling tour around the surrounding area.

Canoeing
Total Cost: $130.25 (Tuition: $90 Fees: $40.25)

Includes an orientation to water safety and solo and tandem canoeing techniques; involves canoe trips on various Maryland waterways. Students should be able to swim 100 yards and bring a swimsuit on Friday. This class is also offered for credit as PEOD 105.

White Water Canoeing
Total Cost: $230.50 (Tuition: $180 Fees: $50.50)

Introduces basic skills in handling small craft; covers care and selection of equipment, safe handling techniques, self-rescue methods and skills used in helping or rescuing others. This course may be used to fulfill 2 elective credits. Swimming ability. Lab fee: $25. This class is also offered for credit as PEOD 106 - A three-hour Monday night session on 6/2/08, is mandatory for CRN: 87707 and A three-hour Tuesday night session on 6/3/08, is mandatory for CRN: 87708.
