Child's Piano Class (Ages 7-11)
Work with a full sized electronic keyboard and learn keyboard basics, including finger work and note reading in a supportive group setting. Please bring a set of earphones to class.

Keyboard Geography: Summer Sampler
Learn to make beautiful music through the use of musical games introducing basic keyboard skills. Learn about notation, hand and finger number recognition, solfedge singing and hand and body coordination. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Study guitar in an age-appropriate manner. Learn strumming and body alignment techniques appropriate to children's growing muscles. Explore basic guitar maintenance, chord progressions, tablature and simple songs. Bring a guitar to class.

Rock Guitar for Teens (Ages 12-16)
Learn to play the guitar by studying traditional rock rhythms, progressions, stylistic sounds and phrasing of some of the most popular guitar artists. Become familiar with the basic music theory skills necessary to play favorite music or begin to write it. Intended for students with little or no formal guitar training.

America's Next Top Designer (Ages 11-13) STEM

Learn how to design, print, cut, machine sew and complete a set of functional and wearable projects using real tools and professional grade materials and be on your way to becoming America's Next Top Designer. You will be introduced to microenterprise. With an old t-shirt and some creativity you'll learn how to start a business using a sewing machine, adhesive vinyl, and silkscreens. Individual attention from experienced textile artists and entrepreneurs help you create a plan and frame your product line as a potential first business. Printed materials and sewing machines provided. Bring your old t-shirts, or work with some of ours. (Materials cost included)

Breaking Bricks: LEGO® Hacks and Mods (STEM)

Fuse, cut, cast and hack totally custom parts for your unique LEGO® and DUPLO® projects. This LEGO® breaks the mold - literally - for novice and experienced LEGO® builders. Learn how LEGO® works as an alternative building material, and how to use tools and materials safely. This is an original design course - no kits are used, and no commercial plans are followed. You will take home your LEGO® project. All supplies are included, students are encouraged to bring their used plastic bricks for hacking, modding and upcycling.

Emerging Engineers (STEM) (Ages 7-10)

Work with experienced engineers and artists, make-and-take a functional, whimsical electromechanical gizmo using LED's, electric micro-motors, wood, batteries, and real hand tools. No experience needed - perfect for emerging engineers, sculptors and tinkerers. Participants use hand tools to cut, shape, scavenge and join parts, solder basic circuits, and create vacuum-formed plastic, wood and composite components for their creations. You'll go home with multiple original working electromechanical toys. All household electronics, tools, hack-able toys, and materials fee are included.

Design, build and fly sturdy planes and ultra-light gliders! Become an “aviation engineer” by safely and accurately using hand tools to shape wood, mylar and fabric into gliders, boomerangs and elastic band powered flying machines! Develop your imagination, design and hand skills and take home three original, high quality flying toys that are built to last.

Bring your dolls to class and have fun making crafts, toys, and decorations inspired by a period in American history. Learn about the roles of women and girls then and now; a discussion on Stop Bullying; and having fun preparing a tea party. Remember to bring an American Girl doll or other 18" doll to class.

Babysitter's Training

Learn valuable skills and knowledge necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. Gain confidence as you develop leadership and problem solving skill and earn first aid and CPR certification. By Maryland law, a babysitter must be 13 years of age unless an adult is present. Course fee includes text booklets and certification cards. Students MUST be age 12 or older. There are no makeups.
