National Science Foundation funding enabled The Community College of Baltimore County to award approximately 30 scholarships per semester from Fall 2004 through Fall 2008. These scholarships were for amounts of up to $3,125 per year ($1,563 per semester) but not more than the student's unmet Federal financial need. These scholarship awards could be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment, and other special needs, such as transportation, and dependent care. Scholarship awardees received academic and mentoring support from faculty. There was a required 3-day summer experience for orientation, academic support, and career information, and one seminar each semester for awardees.
