CCBC FALL 2014 DANCE COMPANY & AFA DEGREE PROGRAM

Friday, September 5th
11:15am in Dance Studio 1
Essex Campus, Wellness and Athletics Center

Come dressed in dance attire. The audition will be barefoot;
bring jazz or ballet shoes if desired.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CCBC DANCE COMPANY MEMBERS:
• Selection at the Audition
• Enrollment in the CCBC Dance Workshop Course: This class meets Fridays from 11:15 – 1:15
• Enrollment in a CCBC Ballet or Modern Dance Technique course

Fall Concert Tech Rehearsal and Performances will be November 10 – 15 at the Dundalk Campus

Opportunities for members of the company to:
• Work with Faculty and Guest Artists
• Create choreography for the Fall Concert!
• Opportunity to attend the ACDA Festival

Character Breakdown:
(Note: Play is set in the predominantly Black Southside of Chicago in the late 1950s.)

Ruth Younger - nearly 30; mother of Travis; wife of Walter Lee; hard-working, mostly from home; does laundry and occasional domestic work for others
Travis Younger - 10 or 11; son of Ruth and Walter Lee; full of life, energy, and curiosity
Walter Lee Younger - mid-30s; intense and tense; works as chauffeur; desperately wants more out of life
Beneatha Younger - 20; sister of Walter Lee; college student; envisions a bright future for herself
Lena Younger - early 60s; family matriarch; originally from the south; proud and wise
Joseph Asagai - Nigerian studying in Chicago; well educated and sophisticated; interested in Beneatha
George Murchison - a well-to-do young man, interested in Beneatha; somewhat arrogant
Karl Lindner - a man with a polite manner from a White neighborhood in Chicago (only White character)
Bobo - an associate of Walter, nervous and frightened
Moving Men
