These are real people portraying real family and friends of long time partners Albin and Georges.
Jean-Michel: (Georges son) must appear to be in early 20's , masculine, well mannered, educated, very in love with his fiancée, Anne; lyric baritone who acts, sings well and moves. He has signature song/dance " With Anne on My Arm" with Anne.
Anne: (Jean-Michel's fiancée) 20's, attractive, can be spunky and rebellious; a good dancer who acts well and sings.
Jacob: Male, the butler/maid, no specific age, great comedic timing, extremely theatrical, sings and moves well. Loves to dress as a woman, difficulty dressing and acting as a man.
Dindon: Anne's father; 40-50's, very right-wing, radically conservative politician; pompous; quirky; must sing, move well and be a good comedian. He dresses as a woman to escape the press in the finale.
Marie Dindon: Anne's mother; 40-50's, shy, retiring, sexually repressed and sex-starved; good singer/actress who moves well; she dresses in "drag" with her husband in the finale.
Jacqueline: Long time female friend of Georges and Albin; owns a chic restaurant in St. Tropez; attractive, charming, and very theatrical; must act, move well and sing. Alto, (think Liza Minelli if she hosted at her own restaurant!!).
Renaud: Male friend of Georges and Albin; appreciates their relationship, owns a small café in the town. Sings, acts, some movement.
Francis: Male, stage manager in George's club; strong actor, good announcing voice, sings and moves well.
A group of drag queen performers played by both men and women: we are hoping to cast a group of 6 - 8 actor/dancers (both male and female) and another 4 - 6 actor/singers (men only) who are able to move well and portray "real" women. The commitment as actors is the most important factor, and the willingness to work hard at creating a completely new version of yourself is crucial: strong skills as either a singer and/or dancer would be VERY helpful.
At the Cagelles Audition - on Monday February 10th at 7:00pm
everyone will be asked to move, sing and read from the script.
Please dress in clothing that reveals your ACTUAL body type - no extra layers.
We are looking for a variety of builds, so don't assume you are or are not right for this - talent and commitment are of primary importance.
Taller women and shorter men are especially encouraged to try out: previous experience with drag is helpful but NOT required.
There are MANY different kinds of drag performers and any version that is truthful and "real" is welcome.
ENSEMBLE ROLES: There are several speaking and non speaking ensemble roles available that would not require numerous rehearsal periods except for blocking, runs and tech week.
