Voices and Votes is based on a major exhibition currently on display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. This Museum on Main Street adaptation will have many of the same dynamic features: historical and contemporary photos; educational and archival video; engaging multimedia interactives with short games and additional footage, photos, and information; and historical objects like campaign souvenirs, voter memorabilia and protest material.

Voices and Votes is the seventh Museum on Main Street project brought to small communities throughout the state by Maryland Humanities. CCBC has partnered with the Historical Society of Baltimore County, which will host a local history companion exhibit at their site with the same themes.

“We are so proud that CCBC has been selected as one of the host sites for Voices and Votes,” said Shannon Smith, Community Education Coordinator for arts and humanities at CCBC. “This project engages not only the college community to learn more about American democracy, but our public schools, libraries, and neighbors as well. We are thrilled about this opportunity. We also look forward to future partnerships with the Historical Society of Baltimore County and other organizations to support more local learning initiatives.”
