CCBC named Bellwether Award winner for program excellence

Mar 16, 2022

Selected from 30 community college finalists from across the country, CCBC is one of three recipients of this year’s Bellwether Awards, recognizing outstanding and innovative programs and practices that are successfully leading community colleges into the future.

The Bellwether College Consortium honors community colleges with awards in three categories: Instructional Programs and Services, Planning, Governance and Finance and Workforce Development. During the annual Community College Futures Assembly, one winner was selected from each category by a panel of national experts.

CCBC won in the Instructional Programs and Services category, which recognizes programs and services that foster or support teaching and learning in the community college. The program, General Education as a Mechanism to Promote Equitable Access to High-Impact Practices, provides interventions that improve student success, engagement, and retention, particularly for minority students. CCBC infused HIPS into General Education courses that resulted in measurable improvement in student success and retention metrics.

The college previously won Bellwether awards in 2008 and 2014.
