Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre celebrates 50 years at CCBC Essex

Nov 01, 2022

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, celebrates its 50th season with a special celebration performance Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18 at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, F. Scott Black Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

Cockpit’s 50th anniversary season will conclude with a performance featuring returning Cockpit performers singing songs from many past shows, in addition to Cockpit trivia and a silent auction.

In 1973, F. Scott Black helped found Cockpit in Court as an outlet for local summer theatre. Cockpit grew to a full-fledged community theatre, attracting performers and audiences from all around Maryland and beyond. Over the past 50 years, Cockpit has staged more than 250 productions with thousands of performers, staff and crew for hundreds of thousands of audience members.

Performances will be held Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787), online at or at the door one hour prior to the performances.
