(Dundalk, Md.) – Community College of Baltimore County Dundalk Athletics today announced that it has named Jack Westermeyer as its head softball coach. Westermeyer has been around the sport of softball for 29 years.

“I am honored to accept the head coach position for CCBC Dundalk softball,” said Westermeyer. “As a past CCBC graduate and adjunct instructor, it feels great to rejoin the CCBC family.”

Westermeyer’s knowledge of the game comes from his extensive experience as a coach and a softball umpire. He has been a member of the Maryland Association of Softball Officials since 2000 and an NCAA umpire since 2006. He has umpired softball games at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels, as well as the NJCAA.

As a coach, Westermeyer led the John Carroll High School softball team from 2012-2015. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he also instructed a very successful softball camp for middle school aged girls during that time. Many of his athletes went on to play college softball or remained in the game. Westermeyer enjoyed his time as a coach and is enthusiastic about returning to the coaching side of the game.

Westermeyer received his associate degree from CCBC Essex (then Essex Community College) and went on to work for the Baltimore County Police Department for 21 years. He ended his duty as a Sergeant in 1995. After that time, he became an automotive instructor and taught at Sollers Point Technical High School and CCBC Catonsville.

In addition to softball, Westermeyer enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife and family in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
