The Briar’s Club explores the challenges of being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community during the McCarthy Era. Skylight Boutique is a safe place for Queer folks to find fun, affordable clothes, and explore our identities. Everyone is welcome to shop, and when someone finds items they want or need, they are encouraged to leave with them – regardless of whether they have money to pay. While dreamed up as a service to the queer and specifically gender expansive community, we find that people both with and without queer identity have a need for free or low-cost clothing, a welcoming and laidback shopping environment, and a place to try new things.
Participants will greet customers, work on the boutique floor, and sort donations. This site is not accessible for those with mobility challenges. There are ten slots available each day. To reserve a slot please contact Ingrid Sabio-McLaughlin below.
