Race, immigration and identity

Co-sponsored by Community Book Connection (CBC) and the Institute for Social and Economic Justice

In “The Briar Club,” the character Reka Muller is a Hungarian refugee whose story reflects themes of migration, belonging and identity. Join Denea Joseph, an immigrant rights activist and storyteller, for a conversation exploring those themes through her own experiences as an undocumented Black DACA recipient who immigrated to the United States from Belize as a child.

Joseph will examine the intersections of race, immigration and identity, connecting personal narrative with broader questions about whose experiences are heard, represented and valued.

Note: this event will take place virtually through Zoom.
