A tense psychological thriller that blurs the line between nature and nurture, innocence and evil.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Bad Seed, by Maxwell Anderson, from William March’s novel, June 13 – 29, 2025. All performances will be held at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, Cabaret Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

A seemingly perfect family begins to unravel in a small Southern town when dark secrets emerge about young Rhoda Penmark—a sweet, well-mannered girl who charms every adult she meets. But beneath her polished exterior lies something far more sinister. After a classmate mysteriously drowns at a school picnic—the same boy who beat Rhoda for a prized medal—her mother’s suspicions ignite. What follows is a tense psychological thriller that blurs the line between nature and nurture, innocence and evil. Bad Seed is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. www.dramatist.com
