Determining Financial Aid Eligibility
The financial aid process begins when the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is submitted. The Department of Education uses FAFSA data to calculate the estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to determine a student's eligibility.To qualify for federal student aid, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Have a valid Social Security number.
- Be registered with Selective Service, if you are a male.
- Be enrolled in an eligible CCBC credit certificate or degree program. Certain Continuing Education programs may be eligible for financial aid.
- Be enrolled at least 6 credits/billable hours to be eligible for a student loan.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
- Not defaulted on any prior federal student loan(s) or owe a refund for a grant.
