John Dedie
Program Coordinator,
Political Science

I was born in Western New York I stated following politics during the 1968 presidential campaign. The first time I saw Richard Nixon on TV I told my father, I don’t trust that man. I was proven right in 1974. This was the start of my interest in discussing, arguing and debating political events among members of my family. I graduated from Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY in 1981 with an AS degree in Communications and Media Arts. In 1983 I received a BS degree from SUNY at Fredonia in Communications/Media. In 1987 I went back to school and in 1990 received a MA degree in Political Science from the University at Buffalo. My thesis was Reapportionment and the Effects on the Democratic Party in New England from 1952-1982.

During the 1980’s I started working on a variety of political campaigns. In 1984 I volunteered on the Gary Hart for President Campaign. In 1988 I ran (and lost) as an alternate delegate to the Democratic Convention for a little known Senator from Tennessee named Al Gore. After working on 2 state legislative races in 1990 (the candidates both won) I decided to retire from working on campaigns. My theory is the best campaign workers are under 30 and I was 29 at the time.

In 1991, I moved to Maryland and like Winston Churchill experienced the Wilderness Years. In 1993 I started teaching as an adjunct instructor for Baltimore City Community College. I taught Political Science and History classes for BCCC at the Maryland State Prison in downtown Baltimore. Since 1996 I have been teaching classes for the Community Colleges of Baltimore County. I have taught American Government, Introduction to Political Science, Comparative Politics, International Relations, State and Local Government, Constitutional Law, American History and Western Civilization for CCBC. Since 2002 I have served as a Political Analyst for WBFF-TV Fox 45 in Baltimore and since 2013 I have appeared on MPT's State Circle.
