Surgical Technology Skills Refresher, Continuing Education Workforce Certificate
This course is designed to review and reinforce the skills required for employment as an entry level surgical technologist. This course is specifically for existing surgical technologists, who have been out of the field or would like additional reinforcement of skills to gain employment as a surgical technologist in a medical setting. Students will review and perform the correct method for creating, establishing, and maintaining the sterile field; intraoperative instrument passing & preparation; handling medications & fluids; and recognizing sterility & contamination issues during the surgical procedure.
Program objectives
Upon successful completion of this Continuing Education Workforce Certificate, students will be able to:
- review and reinforce the skills required for employment as an entry level surgical technologist,
- prepare to successfully function in the role as surgical technologist in an operating room, and
- demonstrate effective skills to work as an integral member of the operating room team.
