The Music of Beethoven (HIT 889)

Continuing Education Course

Ludwig van Beethoven, the "deaf genius", single-handedly changed the course of music history. This class will explore Beethoven's roots as a pianist and composer, how his increasing deafness led to his determination to create his own musical language, and how the ideas he worked with would influence generations of composers in the future. This class will include listening to favorite and less-known Beethoven works for piano, chamber groups, full orchestra, and more, as well as discussions of Beethoven's life and times, personality, and experiences.
