This class is designed to explore current neuroscience findings that underlie dyslexia, a language-based learning disorder, and ADHD, an executive function disorder. Topics to be covered include a comprehensive review and discussion of brain-based research findings, with a specific focus on examining early developmental signs and symptoms related to foundational literacy skills and self-regulation. The class will explore school-based assessments, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and 504 plans for struggling students, offering a comprehensive overview of the practical challenges associated with executive deficits.
