Become a home improvement contractor!

Home improvement contractors need practical work experience in the construction trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. They must also understand the Maryland Home Improvement Law and the Door-to-Door Sales Act. As small business owners, contractors are responsible for business planning, operating practices, sales, and estimating. Contractors are required to obtain a Home Improvement License in order to practice in Maryland.

Upon successful completion of this training, students will be prepared to sit for the written exam for a MHIC License through the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR).
