General transfer information

The University of Maryland provides students with several opportunities to receive undergraduate credit for knowledge and achievements gained through prior learning/competency-based education.

  • Departmental Proficiency Exams (Credit-by-Exam)

Pre-Transfer Advisors assist students with academic planning, including course selection, estimating time to UMD graduation, and major and career exploration. Pre-Transfer Advising is available to prospective transfer students. Financial Aid and Transfer Merit Scholarships are available to those who qualify.

Students intending to transfer should complete the admission application for University of Maryland College Park following the third semester of their Associate Degree program.

To become a member of MTAP, you must submit UMD's online application. Students may apply from the time they are admitted to CCBC until the MTAP deadline prior to their last semester. Once your application is submitted, CCBC will be informed and will submit your academic transcript or enrollment verification form. After these items are received, your MTAP application will be complete and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will review your application.
