A bold commitment to innovation is underway at CCBC, thanks to the Honorable Francis X. Kelly Jr. Through the Senator Francis X. Kelly Jr. Challenge, he has pledged $250,000 to the Sandra Kurtinitis President’s Innovation Fund, matching gifts of $500 or more to create a $500,000 endowed fund. This fund empowers CCBC’s president with the flexibility to launch new initiatives and support the growth of creative ideas at CCBC that enrich student learning. The Fund empowers faculty and staff to develop promising new programs that strengthen and sustain ideas for student access and success.
“Flexibility is key,” Kelly says. “As a leader, you are constantly getting new information, and you need to be in a position where you can quickly adjust. Being able to take advantage of opportunities when they arise is a dream for any president—and I have complete trust in Dr. Kurtinitis to make decisions in the best interest of CCBC students.”
Senator Kelly’s support for CCBC is rooted in a long history of leadership and vision. Appointed in 1996 as Chair of the CCBC Board of Trustees, he guided the consolidation of three campuses into the unified college we know today. He also selected Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis to lead CCBC, a decision he calls transformational: “Dr. Kurtinitis has done a phenomenal job… She was the perfect person to take the college to where it is today.”
Kelly’s dedication stems from his deep belief in community colleges: “Community colleges are the best educational value in America. They are also among the most agile, able to adapt programs and services quickly based on economic and workforce needs.”
Your gift to the President’s Innovation Fund allows CCBC to stay innovative, responsive, and ready for the future.
