Preparing for CCBC's Placement TestsACCUPLACER and ALEKs are not college admission tests.
CCBC uses the computerized placement test, ACCUPLACER and ALEKs, to place you in classes that match your skill level. You can prepare and practice for the test! Check with your academic advisor first to identify which test(s) you should prepare for.
CCBC administers ACCUPLACER Next Generation Reading for academic literacy/English.
CCBC administers ALEKS for math.
ACCUPLACER Study AppThis free app is provided by College Board and ACCUPLACER. It features practice tests in each subject and is accessible from most devices. Become familiar with the content and format of the test and improve on your skills before test day!

ESOL placement testingThis test is for non-native English speakers. If an academic advisor recommends that you take the ESOL assessment, CCBC administers the Michigan English Placement Test (EPT). Michigan EPT is designed to quickly and reliably place ESOL students into appropriate ability levels. It provides an accurate
Michigan EPT measures performance in the following key skill areas:
- Listening comprehension
- Grammatical knowledge
- Vocabulary range
- Reading comprehension
- 25 listening items
- 20 grammar items
- 20 vocabulary items
- 15 reading comprehension items
Students will also will be asked to complete a take a writing test. You will be given one hour to complete the writing test.
