GIFT SERVES AS TESTAMENT TO NURSING PROFESSIONALS’ TENDER
LOVING CARE
Baltimore County, Md. – Norman J. McCullough, producer of
instructional media for CCBC Essex Library Media Services and
professional photographer, presented a check for $500 to the Student
Nursing Association at The Community College of Baltimore County, Essex
(CCBC Essex) in tribute to the wonderful nursing care given to his wife,
Darlene, who died in May after a short illness. Darlene Dawson
McCullough was an award-winning professional photographer who with her
husband owned Greystone Photographics in White Hall. Although their
photography practice ran the gamut from portraits to weddings, their
passion was underwater photography and they have had their photographs
published by National Geographic.
“I hope that whatever they [Student Nursing Association] do with the
money will help them to make their job a little easier,” McCullough
commented.
The check was presented at the Nov. 9 Board of Trustees meeting held on
the Catonsville campus. McCullough’s presentation to the Board, which
was very personal and moving, chronicled the events from his wife’s
diagnosis in February to her death in May. He served as her primary
care provider in the early stages of her illness. His gift was
restricted to the Student Nursing Association at CCBC Essex as his
thanks to those nurses who cared for Darlene in her final hours.
“I want to thank Norm on behalf of the School of Health Professions and
the CCBC Essex Student Nurses Association,” remarked Dean Carol Eustis.
“His gift means so much because his tragedy touched us all.”
