17. 5 dual instrument instruction flight hours (R-22), 15 ground instruction hours, provides the initial phase of flight and simulator training towards the completion of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Instrument Pilot Rating, Helicopter category. Topics include preflight preparation, air traffic control clearances and communications, flight by reference to instruments, flight navigation, safety, and post flight procedures. A valid FAA Medical Certificate is required. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Prerequisite(s): AVMT 135 and approval of the Aviation Program Director. Corequisite(s): AVMT 231 and approval of the Aviation Program Director.
Lab Fee: $8,000.00.
