Introduces students to the concepts of decontamination, sterilization, and the disinfection of surgical instruments and supplies. Students examine the importance of the wound healing process in relation to sterility, instrumentation, and hemostasis. This course also provides students with an introduction to methods of suture principles and techniques, the application of wound dressings, and surgical implants. Course offered once a year (fall or spring).

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Surgical Technology program.
