To receive this certification you must complete:

  • HSL 012 ManageFirst® Human Resource Management*
  • HSL 016 ServSafe® Food Safety Manager Training*
Plus Choose 1 or more of these electives:
  • HSL 006 ManageFirst® Customer Service Certificate*
  • HSL 015 ManageFirst® Principles of Food and Beverage Management*
Provide proof of 800 hours of work experience in the food industry

*Student will receive a Certificate from CCBC and the National Restaurant Educational Foundation for each individual class as well as for the ManageFirst® Professional Certification.

ManageFirst® Series Courses

HSL 006 - ManageFirst® Customer Service Certificate

Learn to treat guests with care and provide an exceptional place to enjoy a meal from the time they enter the restaurant until the time they walk out the doors. This, one of the reasons guests become regular customers for years is, perhaps, even more important than food quality. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Customer Service Certificate from the National Restaurant Association.

HSL 010 - ManageFirst® Controlling Food Service Costs

Learn to overcome the challenge to create a menu and price points that will enable you to maximize profitability, satisfy diners, and grow the business and have fun in the menu design process. Focusing on the bottom line is crucial to the success of any food service operation. Controlling food service costs is one of four core requirements of the ManageFirst® Credential offered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

HSL 011 - ManageFirst® Hospitality and Restaurant Management

Focus on activities required to meet key financial goals and quality standards. Leadership involves long-term planning and strategic directing of employees. Examine both the leadership and management tactics required to operate a successful hospitality establishment; one of four core requirements of the

ManageFirst® Professional Credential offered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

HSL 012 - ManageFirst® Hospitality Human Resources Management

Learn how proper human resources management contributes greatly to the success of any hotel or food service operation. This course focuses on how critical this aspect of the industry is for hospitality leaders. This is one of four core requirements of the ManageFirst® Professional Credential offered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

HSL 015 - ManageFirst® Principles of Food and Beverage Management

Examine the foundational principles necessary to successfully manage a restaurant, bar, catering business or other food service operation. This course is one of five electives which may be taken in order to earn the ManageFirst® Credential offered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

Bartending

HSL 103 - Professional Bartending & Mixology Training

This course is designed to enable the student to learn the essentials of professional bartending and mixology. Topics to be covered include bar preparation, beverage recipes, mixology and customer service as well as understanding alcohol laws and responsibilities, evaluating intoxication levels, checking identifications, and dealing with difficult situations. Students will take the TIPS® Training Intervention ProcedureS for alcohol service training and exam in order to earn an alcohol serving certification from MD from Health Communications, Inc.

HSL 101 - TIPS (Training Intervention Procedures)

The TIPS® Training for Intervention Procedures program prepares casino personnel, bartenders, servers, hosts, and other restaurant front-of-house staff to effectively and safely handle difficult situations related to the serving of alcohol. Upon successful completion of the advance exam given during the class, participants will receive a four year certification from the Health Communications, Inc.®
