Community Health Worker

The need for community health workers is projected to grow 12% from 2021 to 2031. Community health workers help members of the community navigate the the health and human services system. These positions may also be called outreach worker, lay health advocate, health coach, peer counselor and patient navigator.

DeafBlind Interpreting

Elevate your professional journey as a DeafBlind interpreter by exploring the history and communication needs of consumers who are both deaf and blind. This workforce certificate program will equip you with the advanced linguistic and cultural skills, interpreting strategies and ethical practices needed to support deaf and blind individuals in environments like health care, legal settings and emergency management where DeafBlind interpreters are essential for communication.

Interpreting for Theater

In this Theater Interpreter Specialist program, you will learn the necessary skills to ensure that productions are not only accessible for Deaf audiences, but for Deaf theater professionals as well. Get the foundational training you need to support the work of Deaf actors, directors, designers and other theater practitioners.

Dental Assistant

Maryland General Dental Assisting Expanded Functions

Learn the theory and techniques used to perform general expanded functions approved by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners.

Get prepared to take the Maryland General Dental Assisting Expanded Functions Exam.

Orthodontic Expanded Functions

If you're a dental assistant, you can learn expanded orthodontic dental assisting functions and prepare to take the Maryland Dental Assisting Expanded Orthodontic Functions Exam.

Oral Radiography

Dental radiography is an essential skill for any dental assistant who wants to provide comprehensive patient care. With our Dental Assisting - Oral Radiography course, you'll gain the knowledge and expertise you need to take and pass the Dental Assisting National Board's (DANB) Radiation Health and Safety Exam.

Child Care Provider

There is high demand for positions in child care. In this workforce certificate, CCBC offers several Maryland State approved programs to prepare individuals interested in working with young children, infants or pre-adolescents.

Options to pursue include: Child Care Teacher Preschool, Infant/Toddler or School Age, Family Provider in-home daycare and Child Care Director.

ESOL Instructor

CCBC’s TESOL certificate is ideal for those looking to teach or support English language learners in the U.S. or abroad. It’s a great fit for career changers, aspiring educators or professionals working with multilingual communities.

The program follows TESOL International standards and includes hands-on experience with real learners, helping students build skills, confidence and resumes. It’s ideal for those with strong communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate and take direction.

CPR Training

CPR is a critical lifesaving skill that can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency. We offer general and specialized CPR courses for various professions.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

If you are interested in a career in health care, becoming a nursing assistant is a great place to start. With the right training and experience, you can have a rewarding career helping others.

Emergency Medical Services

Advanced certifications make existing healthcare providers more marketable across the emergency medical services field. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Specialty Certifications (CEUs) are intended for EMTs and paramedics looking to expand their knowledge base and qualify for advanced positions.

Emergency Medical Technology (EMT)

Our Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) program prepares you to become an essential first responder. As an EMT, you'll be equipped to handle emergency situations and acquire life-saving assessment skills and learn to transport patients efficiently to the care they need.

Learn to work in an ambulatory care setting and perform front and back office skills.

Nurse Refresher

Are you seeking re-entry into the nursing profession? We have a Maryland Board of Nursing-approved refresher course for those looking to reactivate their license.

Patient Care Technician

Patient Care Technicians perform delegated nursing functions that require a higher level of technical ability and skill, including: venipuncture, specimen collection, IV therapy, basic EKG and advanced CNAs skills. PCTs can work in a hospital setting or urgent care facility.

Phlebotomist

Learn the essential skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic field. Through hands-on training and practical experience, you will gain proficiency in venipuncture techniques, blood collection procedures, sample handling and patient interaction.

Polysomnographic (Sleep) Technician

Sleep Technologists work overnight and collect data using technology that measures sleep activity. This program allots 420 clinical hours at a sleep laboratory while in the program.

The Polysomnographic (Sleep) Technician is also available online!

Massage Therapist Certificate 

Interested in becoming a massage therapist? Licensed Massage Therapists play a vital role in promoting health and well-being through skilled, hands-on care. Explore the massage therapy page or book a massage through our clinic.

Massage Therapy

Medical Billing

Become a medical biller. This career involves interaction with patients, government agencies and insurance companies.

Medical Coding

Prepare for the national certification exam to become a Certified Professional Coder.

Medical Front Office

Learn the ins and outs of working in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital or other medical facility. Store, retrieve and integrate information for dissemination to staff, patients and clients.

Healthcare Information and MIS/Health IT

Be ready for ongoing use of the transitioning from paper to electronic health records (EHRs) for Health IT professionals. Training is offered for EHR Specialist and EHR IT Analyst. At the end of the program you'll be prepared for the CAHIMS exam.

Central Service Technician

Central Service Technicians, also called Sterile Processing Technicians, work in hospitals and surgical centers and play a critical role in preventing and controlling infection by cleaning, sterilizing, processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies to the operating rooms and throughout the facility.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in hospitals or freestanding pharmacies. They are typically involved in customer interactions, insurance claim processing, maintaining inventories and filling prescriptions.

Dispensary Technician

Dispensary Technicians work in cannabis dispensaries and other health care fields to help individuals  navigate the Maryland state regulations process and discover the best products to support their needs. The courses in this program will help you better understand not only the medicinal properties of cannabis, but how to provide individual care, education and inventory management.

Veterinary Assistant Certificate

Are you passionate about animals and eager to make a difference in their lives? Consider pursuing a veterinary assistant certificate and opening doors to a fulfilling career in animal healthcare. Veterinary Assistants help with kennel care, assist veterinary technicians during exams of animals and provide support throughout the veterinary office.

Prerequisites and Challenge Exams

When choosing a program, be sure to review prerequisite courses and look for opportunities to take challenge exams. If you've taken health courses before, these exams will allow you to test out of them – saving you time and money on your training!
